Vanessa Selbst has become the first female to win a World Series of Poker (WSOP) title in a mixed event this year.
The New Yorker put on one of the most dominant displays of any person at the 2008 WSOP, leading throughout the competition before eventually securing victory by beating Jamieson Pickering in the heads-up.
Selbst's pot-limit Omaha victory was worth $227,965 in prize money, but the New Jersey resident will likely be more pleased about the glory.
Only a handful of women have managed to win a mixed WSOP event, with Annie Duke, Jennifer Harman, Barbara Enright and Annette Obrestad - who won the WSOP Europe main event last year - among the bracelet holders.
Stanley Statkiewicz finished third, ahead of Thomas Schultz and Eugene Todd.
Mel Randolph and Craig Natte were sixth and seventh respectively, with Jamie Robbins and Ken Larson making up the last two final table places.
