APT Macau day 1b attracts 151 competitors

2008-08-29 16:51:06

Day 1b of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) tournament in Macau attracted almost 50 per cent more players than 1a, according to its official website.

Approximately 151 competitors entered, with John Juanda, Huck Seed, Mel Judah and Chris Roh among the most famous faces.

The action got underway at 13:00 local time and as of 16:30 BST there are still 59 players left.

Roh finished second to David Saab in the inaugural APT competition in the Philippines at the start of the summer.

Should he manage to reach the final table he would likely overtake the Australian in the APT's player of the year points standings.

Saab was one of the first competitors to be eliminated on day 1a.

Juanda was apparently uncertain whether he would take part in the tournament right up until the start time.

The APT website reported earlier today that the three-time World Series of Poker bracelet holder will be taking part in a high-stakes cash game today.
