John Phan can now call himself a World Poker Tour (WPT) champion after taking down the Bicycle Casino's Legends of Poker event yesterday.
The Razor, who became a double World Series of Poker bracelet holder over the summer, beat Amit Makhija in the heads-up to earn the trophy and the $1,116,428 first-place prize.
Phan went into the six-man final table in second place in the chip count, but he was able to overhaul Makhija's lead and get the win when his pocket threes defeated his opponent's king-seven in the last hand of the day.
Zach Clark finished in third place, followed by Paul Smith, Ttong Nguyen and Kyle Wilson.
It was Phan's third WPT final table of the year and victory ensured that he will take a huge lead in Card Player's player of the year competition.
The standings have yet to be updated, but it was confirmed by the magazine yesterday that Phan would overtake Seidel no matter how he did on the final table.
