John 'Razor' Phan is the new leader in Card Player's player of the year (POY) race following his win at the World Poker Tour Legends of Poker late last week.
The victory took the double World Series of Poker bracelet holder's total to 6,401 points, giving him a lead of close to 2,000 over Erik Seidel in second.
Phan is just 151 points shy of David Pham's victorious score from 2007 and could close in on Daniel Negreanu's record of 8,764 from 2004.
He has already eclipsed the tallies of Men Nguyen and Michael Mizrachi, who won the competition in 2005 and 2006 respectively.
Phan is also now 33rd in the Hendon Mob's all-time live tournament money list, marginally ahead of Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott and behind Humberto Brenes.
The Vietnamese-American is also sixth in the 2008 earnings table, behind leader David Chiu, Glen Chorny, Bertrand Grospellier, Scotty Nguyen and Seidel.
