Doyle Brunson is not happy with the way he played in the Asian Poker Tour (APT) tournament at the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino in Macau last week.
Speaking to readers of his blog, the 74-year-old - who was knocked out after just a few hours of action - suggested his age is taking its toll upon his abilities to perform in competitions.
"I played pitifully and was embarrassed, but just didn't have the energy and discipline it takes to play tournament poker," he remarked.
Brunson put his failure down to the long-haul flight to China, which he implied left him exhausted.
Far younger competitors than the ten-time World Series of Poker bracelet holder went to the rail early, including Brunson's son Todd, David Saab, John Juanda and JC Tran.
Yevgeniy Timoshenko eventually won the event, earning $500,000, a trophy and a seat at the APT season one finale, the date of which has yet to be announced.
