208 players remain at APPT Macau

2008-09-04 13:50:44

There are 208 players remaining after days 1a, 1b and 1c of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) in Macau.

A prize of $453,850 - double last year's amount - will go to the winner and there are still plenty of big-name card sharps in with a chance of taking the cash.

The APPT's website reports that Joe Hachem, Bertrand Grospellier, Chad Brown and Isabelle Mercier all survived the action on day one, although the chip leader Andre Wager is relatively unknown in live tournament circles.

Indeed, if tradition is anything to go by, the players with lower profiles could have a better chance of winning the event, following in the footsteps of last year's comparatively unheard of champions Brett Parise, Ziv Bachar, Dihn Le and Grant Levy.

Grospellier and Hachem both reached the nine-man final table in last year's Macau event although neither managed to finish inside the top three positions.
